Changing or Deleting User-Added Home Courses and/or Departments

You have the ability to change/edit your User-Added Departments and Courses. You can make these types of changes to both User-Added Send Courses and User-Added Home Courses. Most of the changes you make at the User-Added level will automatically propagate down to all the places that they are used. The one exception is a change to the department abbreviation for a User-Added Department. If you change the department abbreviation at the department level, and you have existing User-Added Courses in that department, you will need to manually change the department abbreviation in each of those User-Added Courses individually. Changes to the User-Added Courses will automatically be reflected in all the equivalencies defined to those courses. User-Added Departments/Courses are stored at the data set level. If you have migrated User-Added Departments/Courses to another data set, you will need to update that data set, as well.

Change/Update a User-Added Department

You can change the details (department (title), abbreviation) for an existing User-Added Department in the User-Added Courses feature. User-Added Departments are stored at the data set level. If you have migrated User-Added Departments to another data set, you will need to update that data set, as well.

  • To edit a User-Added Department, open User-Added Courses.
  • Select the data set.
  • Select the department.

  • Click the icon next to the department to edit it.

  • Make changes to the Department and/or the Abbreviation.

  • Click the Update button.

  • Please Note: The department abbreviation in the User-Added Course that was already defined for the User-Added Department was not updated. You will need to manually update the User-Added Course as well.
Change/Update a User-Added Course

You can change the details for an existing User-Added Course in the User-Added Courses feature. If you made a change to the department Abbreviation in a User-Added Department, it doesn't automatically update the department code in any User-Added Courses in that department. You will need to update those manually. Updates to a User-Added Course, however, will automatically propagate to any stored equivalencies that use that course as a target course. User-Added Courses are stored at the data set level. If you have migrated User-Added Courses to another data set, you will need to update that data set, as well.

  • To edit a User-Added Course, open User-Added Courses.
  • Select the data set.
  • Select the department.

  • Click the icon next to the User-Added Course that you want to edit.
    • Make changes to any/all of the elements in the course detail.

  • Click the Update button.
    • The User-Added Home Courses screen will reflect the changes.
If there are any equivalencies that already use the User-Added Course as a target, those will automatically be updated - there is no need to maintain previously-stored equivalencies.

Deleting a User-Added Course*

You can delete/remove User-Added Courses at the data set level. If a User-Added Course has been migrated to other data sets, you will need to delete it from each one, individually. Removing it from one data set does not remove it from all data sets.

  • To delete a User-Added Course, open the User-Added Courses feature.
  • Select the data set.
  • Select the department.

  • Click the icon next to the User-Added Course that you would like to delete.
Please Note: If there are defined equivalencies or open evaluations to the User-Added Course, those will need to be deleted/completed prior to deleting the course. Delete is disabled if there are any defined equivalencies and/or pending evaluation tasks to the User-Added Course.

  • Click the Delete button.
    • A prompt will display.

  • To confirm the delete, click the OK button.
  • The course will be deleted.

Deleting a User-Added Department*

You can delete/remove User-Added Departments at the data set level. If a User-Added Department has been migrated to other data sets, you will need to delete it from each one, individually. Removing it from one data set does not remove it from all data sets.

  • To delete a User-Added Department, open the User-Added Courses feature.
  • Select the data set.
  • Select the department.

  • Click the icon next to the Department that you would like to delete.
Please Note: If there are User-Added Courses defined for the User-Added Department, those will need to be deleted prior to deleting the Department. Delete is disabled if there are any defined User-Added Courses in the User-Added Department.

  • Click the Delete button.
    • A prompt will display.

  • To confirm the delete, click the OK button.
  • The Department will be deleted and you will be returned to the User-Added Home Courses screen.

* Delete is disabled for User-Added Courses if there are equivalencies defined to that course, and/or if there are open evaluation tasks to that course. You must first delete all equivalencies to that course and/or close all evaluation tasks to that course in order to enable delete for the User-Added Course.

Similarly, delete is disabled for User-Added Departments that have one or more User-Added Courses defined. You must first remove/delete the User-Added Course(s) in order to enable delete for the User-Added Department.

Please Note: Deleting a User-Added Department or a User-Added Course will only remove it from the selected data set. If you previously migrated User-Added Departments and Courses to another data set, you will need to delete it from that one as well.
