Institution Profile (U.S. Schools Only)

This article provides an overview of the Institutional Profile page for United States schools.

Within TES®, a user can select the View institution profile icon(s) to access the official TES profile of a particular institution. Two possible icons may appear depending on the page through which the profile is accessed. Users will see a plus-sign (+) and/or a building icon when navigating to a profile through:

  • Course Finder 2;
  • The EQUIVALENCY DETAIL page within the Equivalency Finder; and
  • The course selection page within the Equivalency Manager.

Institution profile information is crafted from verified sources such as the Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) and the National Center for Education Statistics and is updated each year.

Edit Note

Button visible to TES Administrators only; takes the individual to the USER ADDED ADMIN NOTE pop-up, where user added institution profile notes can be created, edited, and deleted.

These notes are internal to the institution that created them but visible to any user at that college or university anywhere an institution profile displays.

Contact Info Official address and primary phone number of the institution
Institution Type Institution model
Degree Levels Degrees offered by the institution
Calendar System Instructional calendar system used by the institution
Enrollment Number of students officially registered at the institution
Carnegie Class Carnegie Classification of the institution
IPEDS ID Number Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) institution ID number
OPE ID Number U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) institution ID number
CEEB Code College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) institution identifier code
PESC GEO Code Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) Global Education Organization (GEO) institution identifier code

Accreditation data will vary by institution. As not all accreditation information may be reported, within each profile, the user is referred to the institution's hyperlinked website URL and the OPE's Database of Accreditation Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (also hyperlinked) for other types of sources of accreditation.

Definitions supplied by the U.S. Department of Education Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs where indicated*:


Accredited*

The status of public recognition that an accrediting agency grants to an educational institution or program that meets the agency's standards and requirements

Expired

The accreditation of the educational institution or program has lapsed

Pre-Accredited*

The status of accreditation and public recognition that a nationally recognized accrediting agency grants to an institution or program for a limited period of time that signifies the agency has determined that the institution or program is progressing toward full accreditation and is likely to attain full accreditation before the expiration of that limited period of time (sometimes referred to as “candidacy”)

Probation*

An action or assessment that indicates an institution or program is significantly out of compliance with one or more of the accrediting agency’s standards, but it is possible that the noncompliance could be remedied by the institution or program within a period allowed by the agency and the regulations

Resigned*

Denotes an institution or program that voluntarily withdrew its recognition as an accredited institution or program

Terminated*

The status of an institution or program that an agency no longer accredits
